The Determination of Proteins in Blood - a Micro Method
نویسنده
چکیده
The use of sodium sulfate instead of ammonium sulfate in the precipitation of globulins makes it possible to determine the proteins of plasma or serum in small quantities of ‘blood. The basis for the selection of sodium sulfate has been discussed in the preceding paper (1). Robertson (2) described a procedure for the determination of blood proteins in small quantities of blood with the aid of the refractometer. Cullen and Slyke (3) have proposed a procedure which gives consistent results and which does not require any special apparatus beyond that to be found in any laboratory. Their method, however, required 5 cc. of plasma for each constituent of the blood determined. The determinations described below can be performed with the usual laboratory apparatus and require but 0.5 cc. of plasma or serum for each determination. The procedures involve the precipitation of fibrinogen with calcium chloride, the globulins with definite concentrations of sodium sulfate at 37”C., and non-protein nitrogen with trichloroacetic acid. In the case of fibrinogen and non-protein nitrogen the technique of Cullen and Van Slyke is followed. The globulins are precipitated by adding a concentration of sodium sulfate which is greater than the required percentage by the amount of sodium sulfate necessary to produce the desired percentage when added to the blood sample. The solutions are prepared by dissolving the required quantity of sodium sulfate in a little less than the final volume, which requires heat for the higher percentages, and then diluting to volume at 37°C. All precipitations and filtrations with sodium sulfate are carried out in the

Nano Analysis in Biochemistry: In Vitro Separation and Determination of Aluminium in Blood of Dialysis Patients Based on Graphene Oxide Nanoparticles Dispersed to Ionic Liquid
The highest concentration of aluminium (Al) in human blood has toxic effect and so, extraction from human body is very important. In this procedure, an efficient and new method based on graphene oxide nanoparticles (GONPs) dispersed in ionic liquid (IL) was used for in-vitro separation/extraction of trace Al from the blood of dialysis patients by ultrasound assisted-dispersive-micro solid phase...

Mercury (Hg) causes hazardous cumulative effects in humans; like central nervous system disorders, hypertension and chromosomal aberrations. Therefore, due to high toxicity and bioaccumulationfactor, mercury determination and speciation in human blood is very important. A sensitive, accurate, precise and inexpensive method was demonstrated for preconcentration and speciationof ultra-trace mercury...

Introduction: The prevalence of gastrointestinal cancers, especially gastric and colorectal cancers, is increasing. Gastric cancer is the most common gastrointestinal cancer in Iran and the age of esophageal and colon cancers onset has decreased in Iran. Therefore, it is important to study the factors and proteins involved in these cancers. Use of computational tools is an effective way to stud...

In this research, a highly sensitive, selective, rapid and simple micro-funnel magnetic stirringassisted liquid–liquid microextraction (MF-MSA-LLME) method combined with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was introduced for the preconcentration, extraction, and measurement of trace amounts of silver ion. In this method 1-(2–Pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) and 1-octanol were used as chelat...
متن کاملDetermination of Serum C, S Proteins and Factor V Leiden among Patients with Sickle Cell Disorder at Khuzestan Province, Iran
Background: Sickle cell disease occurs due to a mutation in β chains and the substitution of valine instead of glutamate in the sixth position of the ß-chain that causes polymerization and vascular blockage. The aim of this study was to compare the serum C, S proteins and factor V Leiden between sickle cell patients and the control group. Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, perf...
